Stunning view of Mt. Hood from this family oriented lake. Kayaks & boats for rent.

That postcard you see, with the Lake in the foreground and the craggy Matterhorn looking Mt. Hood, behind? This is it. It is stunning. They rent kayaks, there is hiking and camping. It gets a bit noisy with tourists in summer so go on an off day mid week if you can.

Go up early for a great day-trip, rent a canoe to tool around the lake all day. Fair warning, the campground gets pretty cutthroat here for overnight spots.

Stupendous views of Mount Hood, a lovely 3-mile hiking loop around it, day-use amenities including canoes and paddle boards to rent. A cool mountain lake escape when it's hot in town. A 45- minute drive; well worth your time.

If you continue up Lolo Pass Rd for about 23 miles you will come to Lost Lake. Bare left one mile up Lolo and a few miles farther don't make the same mistake as me and take the logging road. The actual road is a little farther. This is actually an Oregon Highway and is marked on all maps as such…
