Tips from locals
Beautiful full day drive with many point of interest along the way to historic Russian Fort Ross. Beachside location for hiking and picnicking , docent led tours, and spectacular setting.
You learn about the Russian History of the area. I am one of those weird people who loves historical sites like this where they occasionally re-enact things. Find out why it's called "Russian River!" I'm not going to tell you! You'll probably love it most on a sunny day.
Tour the museum and the historic fort on the coast! Do bring a lunch, as services are limited in the area.
Perfect for families, kids run around and learn about Russian Culture. Park rangers are on standby to teach kids how to make fresh butter or plant veggies.

“Best family-friendly winery in town. If you have young kids, this is the place for you. Two tasting rooms on the property, plus a beautiful patio, grassy area for blankets, picnic tables, clusters of their signature red Adirondack chairs along the shaded banks of Dry Creek. Goats, sheep and chickens to keep the kids occupied. We like VMLs selection of wine better than Truett Hurst. Bring a blanket, buy a bottle, and kill an afternoon here.”

“This is a terrific small production, family-owned winery where your tasting will feel much different than some of these larger corporate-run facilities. Great spot of pinot noirs and chardonnays.”
