E5 Bakehouse

Why locals recommend it

This is where I buy the bread for my own shop’s soups and tartines. Their Hackney wild sourdough is one of the finest breads in the city and ubiquitous on restaurant menus in the area. A loaf will keep well for up to a week. You can eat in their lovely cafe, too, which serves excellent coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. Check out the adjacent farm shop for ingredients made on-site, including their own stone-ground flour and preserves. You’ll also find Pump Street chocolate and some of London’s finest charcuterie from Blackhand on the shelves.

The E5 Bakehouse is great for Saturday brunches or coffee and yummy pastries. They also bake amazing bread on their premises. The staff are friendly. We love it!

A really top bakery doing proper, old-fashioned sourdough breads as well as pastries, breakfast and lunch, a few groceries. In a quiet, quirky spot under the railway arches. Really worth a visit.
