Tips from locals
About 10 minutes walk to the beach. Just go past the shops and then take the next left. When the tide is in, it's a very safe swimming beach - lovely and warm. When the tide is out it's quite a long walk to get in!
A very family friendly safe beach with a great kids play ground. At low tide hunt for shell fish at mid to high tide enjoy a swim. There is an outdoor shower by the changing sheds.
"If the wind is onshore and choppy at Oneroa, Palm Beach or Onetangi then just walk, bike or drive the short distance to Surfdale beach or Blackpool Beach, which will be sheltered and very pleasant. And when the wind is onshore here, enjoy the kite surfers and windsurfers charging."
