It bears the name of a hermit dedicated to silence and prayer but has an origin that evokes scenarios of war and devastation. Fort San Jachiddu is just one of about twenty buildings overlooking the Strait of Messina, designed to monitor and strike the enemy in one of the strategic places in the Mediterranean. Modern Scylla and Charybdis that would have given no respite to the opponent, is now a place that speaks a different language, an oasis of infinite peace and beauty.
