Temple
“Ganga Talao (pronounced Gaan-gaa Taa-laa-o) is a place of worship for the hindus. It is far from any inhabited areas and a very peaceful/quiet location. It is worth a stop when visiting the south/south-west region of Mauritius. Entry is free, with lots of parking space. Ganga Talao is a hindi word meaning lake of the Ganges (a reference to the Ganges river in India). If you are in Mauritius during the festival of Maha Shivratri (usually in February or March), you may even join in the hundreds of thousand of mauritians who walk and/or drive from all over Mauritius to go and pray at that sacred lake. It is a very colourful festival. Note: A highly visited place, do be mindful that it's a place of worship and thus to be respectful of the traditions and decorum of the place. E.g. Do not enter the temples with shoes; Do not consume any non-vegetarian food or alcohol there; Dress appropriately (for e.g. the locals would appreciate if a woman wearing a small short for example would cover up when visiting that place).”
