Tips from locals
Sam's Point is AWESOME! So awesome that you better get there early because, especially post-covid, the parking lot fills up fast! Offers a fantastic view and is home to Lake Maratanza, one of the five Shawangunk sky lakes; ice cave crevices that you can explore; cliffs and numerous scenic vistas…
Sam's Point has beautiful hiking trails. The Ice Caves are well worth a trip, and children love them.
Great hiking trails and a small nature center. Great view of the Mamakating valley from atop the Shawangunk ridge.
Jaw dropping views from the top of the white cliffs as you wind through the forest mountain trails. Ice caves and many look out spots, photo opps. This is about an hour drive from Woodstock
Historic place to wander tucked into a neighboring mountainside Trail. The Ice caves and waterfalls are also situated nearby.
Great hiking, and make sire to check out the ice caves!! Open everyday from 9-5.
Challenging hiking. Beautiful vistas. Informative visitor's center with a very clean restroom!
