2.6km. The loop path leads you through a spectacular stand of ancient kauri. Walking among the giant trunks might be as close as you can get to picturing what Northlands kauri forest were like, before logging nearly eradicated these incredible trees. The easy walk takes 40min.

Trounson Kauri Park is a 586 hectare mainland reserve under the care of The Department of Conservation. A short drive of 17 km from the Airbnb will have you wandering through the easy 1.6km loop track where many beautiful Kauri stand. A great walk for children. The park is home to a good population of North Island Brown Kiwi. We recommend visiting the park at night to hear kiwi calling and even see them.

If you come at dusk and are very quiet you will hear, and maybe even see, a kiwi.
