Explore the beauty of Kopački rit by watching it’s wide array wildlife in their natural habitat. Kopački rit nature park is the oldest nature park in Croatia, founded in the year 1976. Since 1993, it has been proudly listed on the list of ‘’wetland and humid areas of international significance’’, in accordance with the Ramsar Convention. Rich in both flora and fauna, Kopački rit represents an important part of the natural heritage of not only Croatia, but of Europe as a whole. The rich conditions in the swamps are more than suitable for the natural lives of a large number of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects and molluscs, and precisely because of this extremely rich animal population; Kopački rit is the most valuable Special Zoo Reserve in Croatia. The best time to observe these furry, feathered or scaled residents of the park is early in the morning or in the evening, when the animals are most active. The deer, wild boar, beavers, weasels, otters, eagles, pheasants, river gulls, storks and more are just waiting for you to shoot them – with your camera, and not with a rifle.
