Set amid beautiful mountain scenes, the Swiss Open-Air Museum at Ballenberg is a way of exploring Switzerland’s vast architectural heritage. The museum is comprised of more than 100 traditional homes and farm buildings from right across the country that were dismantled and then rebuilt in Ballenberg to preserve them for future generations. As a result, the museum offers an insight into the Swiss way of life over centuries, alongside 250 live farm animals. Open: from 14 April to 31 October, 2022 from 10am to 5pm daily. Admission: CHF 28 per adult / CHF 14 per child. Free admission for Swiss Travel Pass holders. Take a picnic and grilling food as they have numerous family grilling areas throughout the park. A must see if you want a window into Swiss culture. 🐄🧀🐖🍫🏔🐑🇨🇭🌸

A completely underrated open-air museum featuring traditional houses from all over Switzerland. The buildings are all original and have been disassembled and reassembled stone by stone in Ballenberg to preserve them for future generations. I strongly recommend a visit there.

Ballenberg is an open-air museum in Switzerland that displays traditional buildings and architecture from all over the country. It has over 100 original buildings that have been transported from their original sites. In addition to the main attraction of the buildings themselves some of the industrial and crafting buildings still operate to give demonstrations of traditional rural crafts, techniques and cheesemaking. There is also a sizable number of farmyard animals in the grounds.

Ballenberg is an outdoor museum in a huge parklike setting, so it doesn't feel like a museum. Historic buildings from all over Switzerland have been reconstructed here, and old handicrafts such as cheesemaking, silk-spinning or lace-making are regularly featured. A beautiful way to spend an entire day.
