This is a local trail through a wooded area very close to the hobbit house. trials range from very short upto 3 miles. All start and finish at same spot so you can not get lost.

A hard-surfaced walking, biking, and running trails through natural wetlands. You might see the famous alligator. This park is three miles from the Hale Homestead Barn.

This is a lovely, winding (and shady) well maintained paved trail just off the Illinois Bayou with enough room for walkers, runners, and cyclists (a favorite of mine!) This is a sanctuary so it is great for birders and wildlife enthusiasts, too. Easy to get turned around in but there are plenty of maps.
