A perfect local place for a walk or hike for anyone. It's five minutes away by car, with pond, stream, forest and beaver dams. A great place to snowshoe when the snow is deep too. The countryside around here is just beautiful.

Take a peaceful, relatively easy hike through Hand Hollow Conservation Area. Keep your eyes on the water for the otters and the great blue herons.

“Local fave for breakfast and lunch. The small selection of market goods include many locally-produced items. Awesome pancakes (both traditional and gluten free!).”

“Very good food; people come from all over to eat at Mario's. Their menu says their food is Continental, which is worrisome, but that's because it calls well from several European cooking traditions. We particularly like their steak, scallops, burgers and popovers. Great sauces and soups. You may need a reservation, but if that's not available they will happily do a take out order or feed you at the bar. Closed Tuesdays.”

“Wonderful summertime chamber music concerts in the old wooden Shaker tannery building by the beautiful reflecting pond, right in New Lebanon. The hillscape view from there is unbeatable. ”

“This turns out to be a great friendly local place, particularly for wings and very good burgers. Pizza oven too. Bar, good selection of craft beers on tap. Find this place in a back corner of the Midtown Mall next to the OTB, but don't let that deter you. Closed Monday; the kitchen serves on other days until 10 but the bar stays open till 2 a.m.”
