One of Europe's oldest yew forests. Now managed by the National Trust. A beautiful walk through this ancient forest and up to the top of the South Downs with views across to the Isle of Wight.

Walk up to the top of Kingley Vale. A beautiful 8km round walk from the barns, the top of kingly vale rewards with fantastic views of Chichester and Chichester harbour with the Isle of Wight to the south and the South Downs to the North. On your return stop off at the Hare & Hounds for a well deserved refreshment.

This is one of my favorite places with ancient Ewe Trees if you are a walker there is a circuit that encompasses climbing the steps to the burial mounds and then continuing through butterfly fields. It's on road to Fishbourne and signposted Kingly Vale Nature Reserve. There is sometimes a mobile coffee place and parking can be quite hard. Take water and wear sturdy footwear. It can also get very muddy in places but well worth seeing the trees.
