Tips from locals
Park on the road from the coast road going towards Slapton village and turn left into the nature reserve. A delightful quiet, wooded walk along the side of the Ley. Lots of birdwatching and wildlife.
Slapton Ley is the largest natural lake in south-west England. Although it is only separated from the sea by a narrow shingle bar, it is entirely freshwater.
Very long stoney beach +An inland lake that one can walk around is a nature reserve. And at the far end of the beach at tour cross you can get fish and chips.
