This is a museum of weaving; one of the main industries of Paisley in the past. There is a Sma' Shot Parade in July each year to commemorate the weavers who challenged their masters and won. At the time of the Sma' Shot dispute, the Paisley pattern was becoming more popular and ever more intricate to weave. The weavers had to insert and extra row of stitches to support the pattern but their masters would not pay for this additional work. The weavers went on strike and won!
