In the forest near Aalborg Zoo, a 55-meter-high structure towers over the surrounding trees. Aalborg Tårnet (the Aalborg Tower) is visible from most parts of town and is one of Aalborg’s major landmarks. Visitors can ride the escalator to the top of the tower where they can enjoy the view and a small meal in the restaurant. Aalborg Tårnet was originally erected as a part of Nordjysk Udstilling (the Aalborg Exhibition) in 1933 but was subsequently sold to the local shooting club, Det Broderlige Skydeselskab, that still manages the tower.
