Why locals recommend it

When the wind is right, the point break up here makes this one of Sydney’s most popular surf beaches. I skip the surfboard and visit for the 50-meter ocean tidal pool, which is great for doing laps. There’s also an area for kids, and the colour of the water here is truly inspiring: a rainbow of blues that fade into the horizon. There’s nothing better—and nothing more Australian—than ending the day with fish and chips on the beach. Seafood on the Beach is a good spot near the water, and there are few others back in Dee Why village.
