Whenever I have visitors, we like to enjoy a leisurely drive to the Landing via the Blue and Green Lakes, maybe stopover en route at a tiny museum called The Buried Village, then head out to the Landing Lake Tarawera... great place for a pizza and a glass of wine.

Cafe / restaurant ... good food and coffee, great views of the lake and the mountain, and a small walk, public toilets etc; can also hire kayaks, do boat trips from there

"The landing cafe" has got regular bookme specials, check it out. Fabulous views over Lake Tarawera day and night. Cafe and Restaurant. If you want to walk from here to hot water beach, it is 4-5 hours full-on. You can also take the ferry but make sure you book beforehand. A thriling experience. Also perfect for swimming.

Very handy from Spencer Lodge, just a 5 minute drive. The homemade pizzas are really good. Great views across Lake Tarawera.
