Tips from locals
Iconic medieval castle that features heavily in Kate Mosse's atmospheric 2018 novel, "The Burning Chambers".
Although also to be found caught up in the sad stories of the 'Cathars', the Chateau at Puivert is far more closely linked with Occitania and the creation of the travelling troupes of Troubadours starting in the late 11th century.
