The Treja Valley Regional Park lies in the surroundings of Calcata, which also hosts the Park headquarters. This protected area, stretching for almost 650 hectares, is crossed by the Treja river and falls partially within the Municipality of Mazzano Romano. The Park is open to visitors in all seasons, and throughout the year welcomes many tourists, attracted by this beautiful and evocative landscape, which offers a close contact with nature, and encloses the traces of the ancient Faliscan civilization. This area is defined by the presence of the red tuff rock Ravines, a signature formation of the Afro Falisco territory. The Ravines are vertical rock faces of volcanic origins, covered in thick vegetation, which over time have been carved by the flowing of watercourses. As has has done the course of the Treja river, creating a series of small and large waterfalls, particularly concentrated in the area of Monte Gelato. During the Faliscan period, an important city centre rose in these lands: it was the town of Narce. Three different settlements, all within the limits of the park, came under the city district of Narce. These were the town of Narce itself, Monte li Santi, and Pizzopiede. The wealth and influence of the area are demonstrated by a number of findings unearthed in the many necropolis spread throughout the territory. The majority of these relics have been displayed by both the National Museum of the Agro Falisco, and the Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome. The town of Narce is probably to be dated to a time prior to the foundation of the Faliscan capital city of Falerii Veteres, today’s Civita Castellana.

E' un parco naturalistico caratterizzato dalle Cascate di Monte Gelato, nelle adiacenze è presente il Treja Adventure, un parco avventura facilmente raggiungibile con zone pic-nic per passare una rilassante o avventurosa giornata.

Sono stata di persona. Percorsi tra le piante, sospesi a mezz'aria, totalmente sicuri con moschettoni efficientissimi, facile da raggiungere. Adatto a ragazzi e adulti, Bambini trattati benissimo con percorsi scelti solo per loro. Personale gentile. Parcheggio e ristoro. Ottimo da non perdere se avete bambini. 50 minuti da noi.

Valle del Treja Un fiume quasi sconosciuto, affluente di destra del Tevere. Un paesaggio ombroso e verdeggiante, dove le acque hanno scavato nei tufi vulcanici forre profonde e ramificate. Presenze animali diffuse ma discrete, spesso denunciate solo da segni colti da chi sa interpretarli: gli aculei dell'istrice, l'impronta del cinghiale, il richiamo acuto e interrogativo della poiana. E poi i paesi di Calcata e Mazzano
