Definitely off the beaten track, these blast furnaces left over from the Pittsburgh area steel industry are a unique piece of history. A great place for photographers and artists. Only accessible by tour! Check out riversofsteel.com.

The Carrie Blast Furnace is the only surviving mill from Pittsburgh's legendary steel manufacturing era. Part of the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area. Tours and other activities are offered; check the Rivers of Steel website. Open May to October.
