Gunwalloe is a National Trust site. The tiny church of St Wynwallow, with a detached tower set into the solid rock of the headland, is located to the north side of the beach hence the name Church Cove. (TR12 7QE)

Gunwalloe Cove, also called Church Cove, is a sandy beach in a sheltered south-west-facing cove on the Lizard peninsula. A small church, with an unusual detached bell tower, is situated at the north of the beach, hence the name. Popular for swimming, surfing and families. A visit to the Halzephron Inn for refreshments or a meal while you are passing is recommended.

The National Trust owned beach of Gunwalloe sits at the base of the Lizard Peninsula. It is a pretty little cove with a good sized stretch of golden sand backed by gently sloping grassy dunes. Perhaps the most notable feature of Gunwalloe beach though, is the little church tucked away at the northern end. The church is where the beach gets both its name. Named after the early Breton missionary, St Winwaloe, it is quite a peculiar little building. Unlike most churches, the squat little bell tower is actually separate from the main church. There is reputed to be lost Spanish treasure just around the headland at neighbouring Dollar Cove. The local farm runs a small kiosk serving ice creams, tea, coffee and sandwiches and open throughout the summer months. There are toilets located a short walk from the National Trust car park.
