Why locals recommend it

Even years after moving from the East Bay, just seeing their pink to-go boxes makes my mouth water. This take out eatery is a contender for the best dim sum this side of the bridge. The line starts early but the people watching is fun in this part of Chinatown as folks come from near and far. At least half the menu is under $1.00. Eat your heart out. There’s dim sum for everyone. BBQ pork buns, sesame balls, and chow mein are essential. If you’ve got good command of your chopsticks, the slippery rice noodle wraps (toi san) with chives and dried shrimp are tops.

This pastry shop in Oakland Chinatown has the best pork buns in Oakland. We also love the chow mein, green beans, and custard tarts.
