Close to Lisbon Cathedral is the Igreja de Santo António, erected on the very spot where the saint was born. This is a highly important monument in the city, both for visitors from outside the city and for the local inhabitants, who come here to show their devotion to their patron saint. The church was built in 1767 in the neoclassical style, in keeping with the design produced by the architect Mateus Vicente de Oliveira.

It is only 1,8 km from hotel Vila Queirós, beside to Se. Saint Anthony is the patron saint of Lisbon The tradition is that you will find a new (or better!) partner if you are able to throw and land a coin in the book of Saint Anthony on the statue in front of his church, the Igreja Santo Antonio. This tradition originates that Saint Anthony is the patron saint of lovers (and Lisbon) and this church was constructed on his birth place.
