Great trail for biking , Hiking, and is one of the east coast greatest fresh water fishing rivers is along side of it. Swimming is also good in some spots. But one of the best (and best kept secrets) trail is across and a few hundred feet up the street from the paper mill rd. NCR parking. Walk around the chain(or step over) its put there to keep out cars, and follow it to the fork. If you go left it will take you on a 40 minute hike that circles back to where you started.

Stretch your legs on this former rail trail turned hiking/biking trail. I guarantee you won't reach the end in one day. I recommend driving to Monkton on a Friday, Sat or Sunday, park in the lot by the café, and then have a bit of lunch after. They sell gorgeous hand-turned wooden bowls inside if you would like a keepsake!
