"Horseshoe Mound" has an amazing view from the top, with telescopes. You can drive right to the top. The trails are not long at all, but the view is pretty spectacular. 1679 N. Blackjack Rd., Galena, IL 61036

A 19 minute drive from the Aspen House, Horseshoe Mound is a must see in the spring, summer and fall (winter is typically closed). With views for miles you can walk along the trails and enjoy bird watching, a picnic, or just some quiet time in nature.
