One of the largest Roman ruins let in the north, this tumble-down looks old, but you'd never guess it was built in 130AD! Find it on a lovely walk through the woods on tracks that take you either round the coast, or up to Muncaster Castle.

Easy family looped walk from the station to the Roman baths and then back to Ravenglass along the coast. We did this as a family group with 2 x 1 year olds and a 3 year old. Pub in Ravenglass after?

The ruins of the Roman bath house in Ravenglass. This makes for a good walk, with some remains of a bath house dating back to the Roman times.

The remains of the bath house at Ravenglass are the most substantial visible evidence of the Roman fort that once stood on this site. They are located beside a metalled track off the modern road just before Ravenglass village

The remains of the bath house of Ravenglass Roman fort are among the tallest Roman structures surviving in northern Britain - the walls stand almost four metres high. The fort at Ravenglass guarded what was probably a useful harbour, and there is evidence that soldiers stationed here served in Hadrian's fleet.
