Strenuous but beautiful dog-friendly hike! Bring good shoes. Reccommend AWD/4WD vehicle with good clearance to make it to the trailhead.

While we recommend the north side (Johnston Ridge) if you have only one day to visit Mt. St. Helens, some of our favorite hikes are on the less-visited south side. These are best for more experienced hikers. There's no cell service and the trail markings aren't always great, so make sure you have a printed map and/or a subscription to an app like AllTrails.
