Visit Dumfries Aviation Museum. They have a fantastic collection of aircraft, including our Battle of Britain veteran Loch Doon Spitfire, our supersonic Lightning fighter and our wartime assault glider collection. There are dedicated displays on the Home Front, RAF Dumfries and the Bomber War, and the only dedicated Airborne Forces collection in Scotland.

Depending on interest as most of the reading material is indoors, okay for a light rainy day. Lots of planes to see.

Based in the former control tower of the wartime RAF Dumfries, the museum has a great collection of aircraft, including the Battle of Britain veteran Loch Doon Spitfire, the supersonic Lightning fighter and the wartime assault glider collection. The museum has indoor and outdoor exhibits, plenty of space outside and a small café and gift shop.

One for the chaps. This amazing museum is run by volunteers and is based inside of an old WW2 Airfield, with a cosy little cafe on site.

The Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum is a volunteer-operated aviation museum located in and around the World War II-era watch tower at the former RAF Dumfries, located two miles north east of the centre of Dumfries, Scotland, which was in service from June 1940 until 1957, when it closed.
