A must for every visitor. The Headwaters of the mighty Sacramento River is a spring pouring out of solid rock with some of the purest water on the planet. Many consider it sacred. Not to be missed!

This is one of the headwaters to the Sacramento River. A major watershed in Northern California. The park hosts a wonderful sitting area where visitors can fill their canteens directly from the spring and drink. In addition to the spring are wonderful nature walks and a play structure for kids. Many people are drawn to the headwaters seeking the mystical properties of the spring. Throughout the summer, often one may find people selling necklaces, bracelets, and paintings.

The Sacramento River is one of the most impressive natural resources in all of California, and if you are visiting the town of Mount Shasta, you can take this quick stop to visit its humble beginnings. Mount Shasta City Park, on the outskirts of town, features the start of the river and has become an almost spiritual spot for people to visit and drink from. I saw a half dozen people come fill up water bottles while I was there. It is a peaceful place for a quick visit and here is all the information.

Peaceful and lovely park to rest the soul. The headwaters is located in this park and it's one of the purest drinking water on earth. You will find many people filling up bottles to take home and you are encouraged to do so too.
