The Brightline train service is brand new. This high speed train (first in US) connects Fort Lauderdale to Miami in under 30 minutes. It is just one stop south to Aventura, followed by Miami Central Station. If going north, it goes to Boca Ratón , and then West Palm Beach. The third stop north is Orlando and only 2 hours and a half from Fort Lauderdale.
