“Zavratnica A site that all visitors should definitely see is the romantic and very special cove of Zavratnica, one of the most beautiful of its kind in Croatia. It can be reached along a 1-km-long walking trail. This cove cuts deeply into the mainland and is a must-see for all visitors. The cove is 900 metres long and 50 to 150 metres wide. Today, it is a protected area and geomorphological nature monument because of its unique structure. In the springtime, the slopes of the canyon that rise high above the cove are purple with the flowers of the protected Illyrian iris. This is where Vjenceslav Novak, one of Croatia’s greatest poets, used to stay.”
