My family and I loved visiting this center. The volunteers were so friendly! We felt very welcomed. They taught us so much about the natives that once lived in the area. There is original art available for purchase, as well as many other interesting things to look at. If you time your visit right you may even be able to participate in the sweat lodge ritual!

Sweet little hangout in French Gulch on Lake Isabella. A cool building with plenty of crafts and jewelry to buy. Indian tacos are available ($15), from 10 am-2 pm the second Saturday of the month.

The Kern River Valley was originally inhabited by the indigenous Tubatulabal and Kawaiisu people. There are even some pictographs sites still in the area. This little museum and cultural center on the shore of Isabella Lake has some interesting artifacts and newer crafts/artwork. Check for some occasional events. They serve tasty Indian tacos on the weekend. Fun for kids too.
