Taupo lakefront is lovely for a stroll alongside the lake either into town or towards 2 Mile Bay. Pick up a coffee or ice cream, have a swim in summer or stroll to town for a meal. The water is naturally warmer down towards the coffee cart and gelato stall.

To bike to the lake turn left out of our driveway and head down Shepherd rd. Turn left and at the end of “Manuel’s” hotel, you will link into the path around the lake. If you go left you will ride past the “Two mile yacht club” which serves coffee and muffins or pizza’s and a full bar. If you continue past the yacht club the path joins the “Lions Walk”. This path is fully sealed and has breath taking views all along the lake front and of the mountains. You can bike along here for a decent ride approx. 30mins. If you wish to bike towards town at the end of Shepherd rd turn left and at the end of “Manuel’s” hotel turn right to link into the path. You will bike past Wholesome café which has super views of the lake and mountains and serves great breakfast or lunch. It has a small sign out on the path saying “are you thirsty” You will bike past the beaches which have thermal springs and as you get nearer to town the springs get hotter. To bike to town takes approx 15 mins.
