Tips from locals
Large forest, less crowded than Vondelpark. Climbing activities and playgrounds for kids. Running track with fitness equipment.
Covering an area of almost 1000 hectares, the Amsterdamse Bos is one of the largest city parks in Europe. It contains 150 indigenous species of trees and over 200 species of birds. The park sits to the South of central Amsterdam and can easily be reached by bike, tram or metro from the city center.
Proper nature, right near the city. You can walk for hours, watch the rowing teams or discover some squirrels.
My favorite place for a Sunday picnic. Spend the day under the trees, reading a book and swimming in the river..
It is the perfect outdoor space to spend time with the family. Nice open spaces but also lots of footpaths and cycle tracks through the woods.
a surprisingly large and quiet "forest park" on the southern outskirts of the city, perfect to relax after a few days of intense tourism
