Built in 1634 to protect San Juan from land attacks, the San Cristóbal Fort is the largest Spanish fort in the Americas covering some 27 acres of land. At the beginning of the experience, you can watch a short film that explains the history of the fort and listen to an orientation offered by the staff every hour. Inside, you will find a main plaza used for troop formations and practices, a chapel, troop quarters, tunnels used by soldiers, artillery, and more. The observation post located in the third level gives you a beautiful ocean and city view.

Slightly less visited maybe that El Morro, but I actually like this fort a bit more. It has a lot more grounds to cover with secret doors and tunnels you can wander through with no supervision :)
