Impressive and noisy, Easter in Corfu brings to everyone's mind the famous custom with boots that takes place on Holy Saturday in the heart of the beautiful city. Nature is dressed in green, with the scents of flowers, and the city is preparing to host a major religious event. The name Corfu (Kèrkyra) names not only the island, but also with the signal of the first Resurrection at 11 in the morning, the inhabitants of Corfu throw huge jugs full of water - the boots - from their balconies. The boots are the clay jugs with a narrow mouth and two handles on the side for transporting them. The balconies are decorated and the residents tie red ribbons on the boots - red is the color of Corfu. its capital, which is a beautiful, sophisticated and charming town. It is also one of the most elegant island capitals in the whole of Greece, as it was modernised for the 1994 EU summit The architecture in town is infuenced by the French, the Italians and the British, but it still has a contemporary Greek feel to it, which makes it an amazing place to visit

No visit to Corfu is complete without a wander around Corfu City (even though it’s more like a pretty small town). Make sure you wander around the UNESCO World Heritage protect the old town and see if you can spot any of the historic Venetian houses that are still standing. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the Statue of Georgios Theotokis, the Liston, the Old Fortress, Spilias Square and Saint Spyridon Church (the patron saint of the town). With all that exploring, head over to The Venetian Well for yummy food in an idyllic setting (the lamb is delicious).
