The Monastery of San Nicolò l'Arena in Catania, Sicily is a former Benedictine monastery, located in Piazza Dante in the city of Catania. After the Mafra, this abbey is the second largest Benedictine monastery in Europe. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (1 min walking)

This monastery is a must-see! Guided tours every hour, every day from 9am to 5pm (11am to 6pm in August). If you don't speak Italian, go during weekends and ask for a guided tour in your language!

Sede della Facoltà di Lettere e Lingue, è un monastero con elementi barocchi e neoclassici. Ospita anche una domus romana del 1° secolo a.c. e tracce della colata lavica del 1669. Here there is the University, is a monastery with baroque and neoclassical elements. There is also a Roman domus from the 1st century BC and traces of the lava flow of 1669.
