I know many of you are fans of Starbucks, but did you know the founders were friends of Alfred Peet, who opened his first coffee house in Berkeley in 1966. "Peet's" then supplied the founders with coffee in 1971, getting them their start.

“Peets is one of the original coffee houses. Peets has been my favorite coffee place and the original is still in Berkeley, at Walnut and Vine. Since 1966! Alfred Peet supplied the three founders of Starbucks, with coffee in 1971. Native that I am, I stick to Peets as my coffee of choice!”
