In ancient times it was the town court and prison of the area. you can visit the castle and the lovely village of Lari renowned for the cherries.
Lari Castle was a battallion ground between the Florence Medici (against the pope) and conserrvative Pisa that supported the clericus, while Humanism followed the medioeval thoughts.
