Tips from locals
St Albans is a Roman town than was famously ransacked by Boudicca in about 60 AD. It has an extensive market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is the Verulanium Park within walking distance of the cathedral.
A trip around the Abbey is always a favourite. Free tours are available and there are sometimes evening and lunchtime concerts. Has good cafe for a quality coffee and gift shop. Regular services with wonderful choirs.
Guided tours, choral services with incredible acoustics and the longest nave in England. (also where Johnny English was filmed!)
St Albans Cathedral, referred to locally as "the Abbey", is a Church of England cathedral in St Albans, England. Much of its architecture dates from Norman times. It ceased to be an abbey in the 16th century and became a cathedral in 1877.

“Verulamium Park is a great outdoor space. Over 100 acres of park, for walking, relaxing or taking part in the Park Run on a Saturday at 9 am. The park is full of history - as you walk around discover the Roman ruins remaining from the Roman town of Verulamium. Don't miss the Verulamium museum, where you can learn about everyday life in Roman Britain.”
