Tips from locals
Take the scenic drive down to Man o War vineyard to experience one of the islands most popular destinations. Taste their award winning wines and relax in the garden or restaurant for a lovely waterfront lunch.
Gorgeous bay filled with an array of visiting boats and yachts. Offering tapas platters and wine tastings at Waiheke's only beachfront tasting room. Picnic tables, gas BBQ, public toilets all available.
At the other end of the island so a 30 - 40 minute drive on a rough road. This is a vineyard on the beach. Stunning location and worth the trip if you are around for a few days. Transport by off road bus provided by the vineyard
Worth a trip to the ‘bottom end’ of the island for beautiful wines and tasting platters. Right by the sea, this is a pretty special spot. They now have their own shuttle bus too so that if you are without a car or want to enjoy all that is on offer from the vineyard, transfers are hassle free.
Well worth the drive - fantastic trip around the island and great views all the way. Coupled with some of the island's best wines when you get there.
