Clay Hall House

A great day out is guaranteed at Bury St Edmunds just 30 minutes by car from Clay Hall House. The largest of the former Wool Towns, Bury has one of the most spectacular ruined abbeys in southern England now surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful gardens. There's a magnificent Cathedral, a thriving craft and food market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a great selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants.

Do visit the ruins of the Abbey at Bury St Edmunds. I grew up playing on the ruins and its celebrating it's 1000 years in 2020! The knights met here to draw up the Magna Carta so its very special. Do also go into the Cathedral whilst you are nearby. There is a wonderful statue of King Edmund by Elizabeth Frink just outside it.
