Tips from locals
If you take the famous Harry Potter steam train to Mallaig you can visit the Harry Potter shop.
Take the 'Road to the Isles' – one of the most scenic routes in the Highlands of Scotland, Stop on the way at Glenfinnan for the Glenfinnan Monument and World-Famous Glenfinnan 'Harry Potter' Viaduct.
The stunning Road to Mallaig is a must by road or by train. Come for the stunning views, the fish and chips or the Ferry to the Isles!
Port and tourist centre - take a boat to Skye or the small isles, eat out and get shopping.
Mallaig is one of the main ferry ports in the area and a thriving fishing village. There are various shops etc and a sealife centre, but I like watching the comings and goings of the busy harbour.
