In the heart of Kirkwall, construction of this beautiful building was started in 1137. It is a must see place of interest which is easy to get to by foot if you are planning to take in some of Kirkwall's other sights.

The oldest cathedral in Scotland, and the most northerly cathedral in the United Kingdom, a fine example of Romanesque architecture built for the bishops of Orkney when the islands were ruled by the Norse Earls of Orkney.
