Why locals recommend it

Once a movie theater, this venue has been transformed into an alternative music venue with good acoustics. Thanks to the excellent English-made speakers, you feel as if you’re entering a sound shower. It’s known for noise music shows and it’s a unique place to find out what the fuss is over the seemingly oxymoronic music genre. Ryoji Ikeda, a leading noise musician famous around the world, performs here regularly—watch out for his shows. And check out WWW X, a second, smaller venue they opened in the same building.

Tokyo's newest, big-hitting music venue used to be an art-house cinema. It still has the tiered floor (though the seats are gone) so everyone can see the stage. The line-up varies from indie pop to punk to electronica, but this is one of those rare venues where you could turn up just about any night and hear something good.
