The Hungarian Academy of Sciences is the most prestigious learned society of Hungary. Its central building was inaugurated in 1865, in neo-Renaissance style. Its seat is at the bank of the Danube.

The history of the academy began in 1825 when Count István Széchenyi offered one year's income of his estate for the purposes of a Learned Society.Its task was to develop Hungarian language, science.

The tram line 2 stop is between the Academia buiding and the Danube river. This line drives alog the Danube and you can use going south to reach the market hall, the Gellert bath and north the Parlament and the bridge that leads to the Margaret island.
