Tips from locals
If you're after an authentic Portuguese BBQ experience, go here. Only open for lunchtime 12-5. Choose your fish or meat from the display on the way in, join the queue and then have it served to you at your bench seat. Not cordon bleu, by any means, and service is rough and ready, but if you like…
The BEST place in town to eat grilled fresh fish. They also have some good grilled meat. The quality/price of this place is great. Price:10- 15€ per person
Typical Portuguese food in a relaxed atmosphere. After you have chosen your fish and while it is being prepared , you can take a stroll in the backyard to look at what a fazenda (farm) used to look like. You will need a car / cab to go there since it is on the road between Lagos and Odiaxere.

Market
“Av. dos Descobrimentos, 8600-668 Lagos, Portugal In the Algarve, there are habits that aren't lost with the routine - buying fresh products in the local market is one of them. Even if you're visiting and have no intention of shopping, you'll certainly enjoy knowing the local market, Mercado Municipal da Avenida de Lagos. Open daily since 8 a.m., this is a place to visit early when the stalls are colorful and fresh fish has just arrived from the sea. Built in 1924, this market is in the spot where Fábrica da Porta de Portugal used to be, until it was fully restored in 2004, adapting to current needs. The place still serves the usual functions - provide the Algarve people with the freshest products of the region – only now that’s done along three floors. And if, before, it was known as “Praça da Fruta” (Fruit Square) for selling only fruits and vegetables, today, it's known for being very complete. The products we find around here are extended to all meals. On the third floor, a café, a restaurant and a terrace overlooking Lagos Bay, make this market one of the places you visit even if you don't need to shop - it's a real treasure that combines habits that passed down from generations, and a wonderful way to show what's best in the Algarve: the fresh products, the people, and, obviously, the sea!”
