佐倉城址公園内にある日本で唯一の国立の歴史民俗博物館です。研究機関と教育機関も兼ねており、日本の歴史研究の中心的役割を担っています。2019年3月に先史古代を対象とする第一展示室がリニューアルオープンしました。
