The Forbidden City: This is obviously the most well known attraction in Beijing. Come out on to the main road and turn right, heading south for 5 minutes until you see the Forbidden city. This is the back entrance, you will have to walk around for another 5 minutes. However the scenery is beautiful…
Probably crowded, but a must-see. If you're adventurous, you can ride your bike right through the middle of the Wumen and get a sense for the place without buying a ticket. Otherwise, you can enter from the Tian'anmen gate (where Mao's portrait hangs).
A must seen for anyone going to Beijing for the first time! They keep opening new rooms to the public so there's always something new to discover! Watch out for the opening hours and the crowd though.
